Gabriella Maria 18 months~ going on 16!

18 months!!

GABI TURNED 18 months back on December 11th, but because of illness, and holidays, she just had her 18th month check up-

Her stats:

Weight: 25 ilbs = 64% percentile

(carsen was that at about 6 months)

Height: 33inchs = 85% percentile

I can not say enough how much I love this little girl!

For those of you who don't know, we tried for 2 years almost 3 to get pregnant with our second child, and had some problems, and it was a very stressing time, but I can truly say with all my heart this little girl was worth the wait! It seems like just yesterday, we found out we were finally pregnant with her, and the long journey began, and the day she came, was one I will never forget, but the day she was blessed as one that will always be in my heart-

She is such a joy to have in our family, and she is the easiest child ever, always happy, always entertaining, and such a personality! From the moment she was born she was always one step a head of everyone. Right now at 18 months I can sit and talk with her have conversations with her and she understands, she is into princesses and dolls, and babies, and anything singing and Dancing. She loves her brother, and loves to wrestle and tease already! One thing she LOVES, is when we get in the car, she will say my name, MOM, real loud to where i look back at her and she hurry and turns away like she didn't say it, then she looks are carsen for a laugh, and the two of them just bust up laughing.. its so funny- it goes on the WHOLE car ride- right when i look forward, i hear another MOM! I turn around and nothing, then look forward, and all I hear is laughing! they are great! i can already imagine what her future holds!

Just a few of the MANY words she can say-

She is so Smart-

I couldn't ask for anything more- i have been blessed with GREAT kids, and a wonderful life-

MY HUSBAND IS THAT GUY!!

Ok so my husband grew up in SLC and is a HUGE utah fan! May I remind you, this was not shown to me before we got married, not that it matters what team he likes but to the extent that he likes them!! But its ok.... I GUESS! :)So they have season tickets, and Carsen is following right in his dads footsteps, LOVES everything UTAH and HATES everything BYU!

I will admit, it gets annoying, but I do my best, to just let him be himself!The last home game I gave Chas a Camera and I said, please take some pictures, and he did really good! He took Carsen down on the field, to get some Autographs, and some pictures with the players! CARSEN WAS IN HEAVEN!! Carsen set aside a sharpie pen on the monday before the game, so that they would not forget it for the game, because he really wanted some autographs! Here are some pics from that day!

Thanksgiving.. Nov 2009

Well now that christmas is fast approaching, I thought I would talk about Thanksgiving.. ha!
Chas calls Thanksgiving the forgotten holiday, because he says people forget it and focus on christmas.. WHATEVER..!! :)
For thanksgiving this year like every year, we had dinner at Chas parents and my parents-
We headed to Chas parents house around noon, and we ate at 2:00 both of his Grandparents were there, and we had a GREAT meal! Chas mom is a GREAT cook!! We then headed to my parents to eat AGAIN at 5:00! We always have awesome thansgiving..
My mom invites my cousins that are from Virgina going to BYU over to eat to we had quite household.. I didnt take lots of pictures, but we did get some video of some of us, Jamming and Dancing to music, while the Boys watched Football.. My mom also did Crafts with the kids- it was a thanksgivng to remember..

MY BRO FIGHTS, SO DONT MESS WITH ME!

So my brother fought a couple weeks ago.. I i love going.. i was going to blog about it, but I thought i would just paste what my sister Devrie said about it cause its GREAT!!

My comments are in Red-

Had to show some love to my fabulous brother...He fought on October 30th up in Layton and my sisters and I decided to make the trip up to show our support for brother! Okay first we kept putting off and putting off getting tickets saying that we would get them the next day or the next. (Danielle and I work on a computer all day long it wouldn't have been hard to just buy them but no! somehow she acts like this is my fault??) anyway So the night before his fight we get on the computer to order our tickets and sure enough you were no longer allowed to order your tickets they must be purchased at the door. So we are freaking out thinking shoot we screwed up the tickets are gonna be all sold out. Friday rolls around we plan everything we are going to head up to Layton early buy our tickets, grab something to eat, and then head over to the venue. That is not how it turned out. We didn't end up leaving until about 5:45...doors opened at 6:30. So we are stressing a little driving up there but trying to enjoy the ride as well and then BAM!!! 6:00 TRAFFIC on I-15 AWESOME! Now our stress level is above and beyond what any of us had pictured. We are slowly creeping along the freeway and finally pick up freeway speeds again. We finally arrive to the Davis Convention Center Delyse and I hop out to hurry and by tickets we walk in the door and no one is hardly there yet. We purchase our tickets for the fight walk in and now have the best choice for any seat we want! (besides VIP some lame security guy kicked us out during Derek's fight...that's another story) Needless to say we made it, and the fights began. Derek was the main event so of course he was last. We sat through all of the fights and might I say most of them were extremely boring! These fights were boring.. Derek finally was up and I was getting SO nervous! I know he is an excellent fighter but every time I just can't handle the anticipation. So they announce his name and what not and he is walking out to BOB...what the?? Bob Marley I of course was loving it, but everyone else was so confused why the head banging rocker F word music wasn't being blasted over the sound system. He finally makes his way over to the ring and is getting ready to walk into the stage and hello he has spandex on!! Yes Spandies... I know Derek cut alot of weight for this fight but please your sisters are in the audience! The fight began and it went three rounds I was dying I had never seen a fight of his go past the first round. He was winning the whole time but still SO nerve wrecking! Fight finally came to an end Judge Rules...Nutter Butter... I mean WIN!!! Unanimous Decision!!!!

Highlights of the Night:

Derek's Win It was such a fun night to hang out with my sisters and my dad supporting Derek. He works hard at everything he does and is very successful! I look up to him and admire him for all that he does. We don't always get along but that is how us stubborn Downeys work, but he is an amazing brother and I love him so much!!!

My brother is the best brother ever! I had a blast, with my sisters the drive was fun, the night was fun! And again dont mess with me.. my brother fights.. and he is amazing..

Trick or Treating..

Halloween was so much fun this year..Carsen was a utah football player and of course he asked if Gabi could be his cheerleader, so I kind of took a different twist on the cheerleader and made her a a tulle skirt, but they both look cute!! Carsen went trick or treating with his friends for a couple hours which is so funny and weird to think he is getting that old! He is so fun to watch play with his buddies, as he calls them! Then was so kind to take his little sister around with him, She was so into it! It didnt take long for her to get the concept and she was so fun! She would knock on doors and hold her bag out and lets just say she got ALOT of attention from people, we were out for a while but didnt get to many houses because almost every house had to sit and talk to her for like 5 min, it seemed to take longer, but I was loving being the proud parent to an adorable little girl! She on some houses attempted to walk into them, like I said she is not shy AT ALL!

So Chas was a punk and went to the utah game instead of hanging out on Halloween, but what can you do right?? haha! On the way to my parents house Carsen wanted to stop by "the scary house" its quite a show.. i didnt get a picture, but its awesome, they have been decorating their house since I was in high school. anways he was so brave and wanted to go trick or treating at that house so we made a stop! It was a great end to a fun night!!

Halloween Time...
Carsen had his Halloween Parade and party at school yesterday and it was so fun!! He was of course a Football Player, and nothing other than a utah one. I love being able to go to things like this.. I am so grateful eveything works out!! anyways.. it was so fun, we played Bingo, Made popcorn Hands, Decroated Cookies, and DANCED!
Gabi of course didnt wast any time right when we walked in she jumped down, ran right over to carsen while he was on the carpet, squeezed in between another kid and carsen and sat right by her brother.. lets just say she was happy to see him, it was CUTE! she sat there with the kids, just listening to the teacher talk to them.. she is ready for school already!! and she didnt stop there she made her way onto the Dance floor while the kids danced and she played along and freezed when music stopped and made faces when she was suppose to, it was fun!! Carsen liked being able to show his sister off...

CRAZY BIRD..

Ok.. So this is a CRAZY story... I kept hearing this noise upstairs.. So I finally decided to look around and see what it was. So I heard it coming from our water heater closet, and so I opened the door stuck my head in and then all of a sudden, something comes flying at me!! Of course I FREAK out, SCREAM (i wish I had a video camera on me), and I hurry and slam the door.. much to my surprise.. I caught the bird in the doorway, His head was on one side his body on the other. So there I was with a Bird stuck in my house in the door.. (lodge) it couldn't get out.. so i didnt want to open the door because then it would fly around my house, so I just say there just staring at it thinking no freaking way did that just happen. So Chas is gone, i dont know what to do, Carsen comes up with a knife and says, use this.. Cut his head off. I just kind of smile and say, no we cant do that. So I call my dad. While on the phone with my dad the bird starts to move and try to move his feet, so it freaked me out! so my dad says he would be right there.. (he was at SHHS so thankfully close) so i asked carsen to watch the bird while i tracked down a bag, he stood there with the knife out at the bird like he was in charge it was so funny, until the bird started to fall down the door and I then heard carsen SCREAM, so loud.. and he goes mom mom mom as he is running down the stairs, ITS MOVING.. ha! So I head back up the bird had slid down and the door had started to open a bit so i closed it a little bit more, and the bird finally left this earth to return home to hsi other bird friends.. but i still wouldnt touch it, my dad came opened the door, the poor bird, dropped to the floor, DEAD! oh man.. it was so weird, funny, scary, all at the same time.. anyways, I took some pictures to show.. sorry if you think I am cruel, but again he came into my house, and it was self defense! anyways..

My dear sweet Grandma...

Ok.. so its been said probably millions of times but millions of people...

But I have the best GRANDMA in the world!

She is the sweetest, slightly stubborn, yet gentle woman I know!!

And a very strong woman!

My grandma has been through a lot and continues to be strong and I admire her and love her to no end! She is the backbone to the amazing family I have!! It all starts with her!

She has been through sickness, Cancer, injuries and yet never misses a birthday, and has been there for my little family A LOT! In the past 4 years since I have moved just about 4 miles from her house My children have started to get to know this wonderful woman we call Grandma..

I have had many great talks with my grandma and her stories are endless but one thing is she has taught me is to never give up..

She is currently in the hospital recovering from a fall to which she had to get a hip replacement.

She is recovering well, I just love her and she is in my thoughts and I will continue to pray for you Gma!

As I watch my children grow and watch them laugh and play together I just imagine their bond they are gaining.. I love to hear them laugh and play together!! I have the best kids EVER!

And through reading this quote it reminds me of my brother and sisters, and it can not be an more perfect for how my family is!!

Carsen started kindergarten... and he is loving it!

He loves having to do homework..(we will see how long this last)

and his favorite part is RECESS!! (go figure)

Carsen just turned 6 so he is the oldest in his class and looks like a second grader when you see him in the halls with the other kids, but he is just loving the "big school"

funny stories since school has started:

***school started on a Wednesday which in Nebo School District the have early out every Wednesday so he gets out at 2:00 and goes 20 mins early.. well, that didn't register in my head that first day, so YES, the first day, he was 20 mins late to school! (my bad!) but I was not the only mom!!

** I asked him if he has seen Tristan or Keaton (some older boys down the street he just thinks is so cool) and he said he saw Tristan (who is in 6Th grade) and I asked if said hi and he said no we just gave each other "fists" ha! That's my boy...

And lastly.. the U of U played last night and Carsen and Chas went, and Carsen came home with a Jersey and he HAD to wear it today, and made me take pictures of him..

Isn't he the CUTEST kid ever...

OH MAN... Pretty soon, he will be graduating, going to college, mission, getting married, having his own kids, and then sending his own kid to kindergarten... (tear..)

Birthdays...

We had a couple birthdays this summer.. Gabi turned 1 in June.. we had a fun time at the park.. and she loved her cake.. dug right in.. she is just a doll, and I love having a little girl!!

Carsen Just turned 6 on Aug 22nd. He of course had a football party and we went over to Chas Stadium and played football on the turf, the kids lifted weights.. (so funny) and did a pinata.. he was so fun and he LOVED it, he got a flag football set from Gma downey and played that most of the time!!

GRADUATING

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION.. HE DID IT!!

he love school this year, he espically loved the spanish!! He was not too happy about learning spanish at first, for some reason he hated spanish and everything to do with it.. I blame it on Dora and Diego... There is actually a funny story about him and hating spanish so much and really being upset when he heard I was part spanish???

but as he started he just wanted to learn more and more! and he ended up getting an award from his teacher about LOVING spanish..!

Baseball time

So carsen was able to start baseball this summer.. and he had a blast!!

of course he is a NATURAL! and a swtich hitter!

Swimming Lessons

Carsen had swimming lessons this summer with a good friend of ours Natalie Brown, she is great for anyone looking for a good teacher.. she is great! He was so timid and nervous at first and she made him feel so great!! The begining he would not put his head under or even liked being splashed, by the end he was going down the slide (not an easy task) and jumping off the diving board.. we had a blast thanks! NAT!

I'm Back....

WOW.. ok So I am not sure what the deal is but I am going to try and start this up again... its been a busy last 8 months since my last blog, but now that its slowed down a bit.. I am going to start to try... instead of going completely backwards.. I am juts going to try and go forward... I will post a bit of whats happen since but not alot!! I have never stopped reading others blogs, so I guess its time for me to start up again... So whats happen the last 8 months.. well

*CARESEN GRADUATED PRESCHOOL (starts kindergarten today)
*COACHING @ SALEM HILLS HIGH SCHOOL FOR SOFTBALL (we did great!)

*SUMMER CAME AND WENT, WITH T-BALL, AND SWIMMING LESSONS

and much more, but those have been some of the high lights going forward...

Things are great!! I will post a bit from each of those from the past 8 months and then move forward from there!!

My kids are silly and My life is GREAT!

I love being a mom to these wonderful kids.. Carsen loves to take silly pictures, and believe me i have a TON of him proving that, and maybe quite a few of me joining in on the fun!!

Gabi, is really into this NOSE scrunch she does its so funny... and loves eating those Gerber Puffs

I did her hair in pig tails and I thinks its so funny...she looks like BOO from Monsters inc to me!

~Bath Time~

BATH TIME...

So Carsen's new favorite thing is taking a Bath with is sister.. he absolutly loves it, he is asking every day can Gabi and I take a bath... more than once a day too! Lets just say my kids are super clean! I think he loves to tease her and dump water on her head becasue she loves it! and he HATES water on his head!! So of course I have been going crazy with the Bathtime pictures so please enjoy a few..

So Carsen loves the Show Little Rascals, so he just had to do her hair like alfalfa..

He loves their club.. HEMAN WOMAN HATERS.. he is so anti-girls now its funny!

Our life as of today..

Gabi is so cute when she wakes up I had to take pictures.. her hair is out of control and she usually is standing up in her crib going nuts waiting for us to come get her.. I love it!

She always sleeps with this bunny thats in the picture.. its so cute. She loves it and can not sleep with out it, one night we left it at my parents and she wept, not really cried, but kind of like a little wine for like 2 hours until her body just fell asleep it was so sad because I had to sit and listen to her in the monitor! So we have Started to introduce the Lutui bear uncle beni gave her so she will be attached to that too, because its so soft! But if anyone see's a bunny like this one below at a store let me know!! we got it as a gift and would love to have another one if "snugs" ever gets lost or ruined..

We also finally put up Carsen's FAT HEAD! he loves the Bengals! Now his room is complete!!

NEW YEARS!!! 2009

So for NEW YEARS..we went to Salem Hills where i coach softball, with some friends, and played Volleyball and Basketball (well the boys did) all night! it was a blast everyone brought pizza, treats, the kids played and we only had one injury.. one of my friends little boys fell off the bleachers.. its was so scary, but he was ok! Other than that we had a BLAST!! GREAT IDEA KIM! anyways... on a side note, we played girls against guys and the girls totally won!! SURPRISINGLY guys are not athletic when it comes to playing volleyball...?

An update on Gabi..

she is now 6 months old, and has so much personality! Carsen and her are SOOO different! I can not describe how funny she is! From watching her eat, to play with things, to explore...Right now she is crawling, clapping, sticks her tongue out at everything, says mama, and pulls her self up now on things! She loves the camera, and i swear knows already when its on her, she always poses! She is amazing! So SMART! and so TINY, well compared to what we are use to CARSEN, who was always so HUGE! she is still in the 60% for both height and weight...

I just need to say I love having a girl!

Christmas was a blast! BUT.. Carsen got sick christmas eve, so we were up all night with him, he threw up like 5 times, and giving a 5 year old a bucket to throw up in just did not work, so come christmas day we all were a little tired! But Santa came, and we visted family and it was so fun! Gabi, was so fun to watch to!

SO ITS BEEN AWHILE.....AGAIN

So what is new... well alot has happen since my last post:
Halloween, Beard month, Thanksgiving, Gabi Started Rice Cereal, and SHE IS CRAWLING!! (she is only 5 months) I love being home with my kids everyday, i forgot how funny they are! Carsen is in school on 3 of the 5 days but still he is so fun to be around and i can watch Gabi all day!! She is so NOT like Carsen was when he was a baby its funny! She is a BUSY body! and if you know carsen is would not have left my side. She LOVES being on the ground, and loves to explore! I can only imagine what our life will be like when she is bigger!! I think she already enjoys the spotlight!! She is moving all over the floor and has started a army crawl!! its funny to watch.. its a slow drag and thump.. is how i describe it! drag...thump...drag...thump! We started her on Cereal and again unlike Carsen LOVES it! she can not get enough of it! she watches so intently when we eat, she wondered why she was eating and she would sit there like a little birdie when we would eat so we tried cereal and she loved it! she had her 4th month check up (a little late..) but again unlike carsen we have a small child! She was 60% for height and 70% for weight! Carsen was ALWAYS off the charts! Carsen is so good with her, but that is a given considering he is such a tender heart! I am worried she is going to be our DIVA! Anyways.. in a nut shell :) I am so thankful for them and my hubby.. Thanksgiving was a blast and we had a great time with family! Chas had Wed-Friday off so it was nice to just relax and spend family time together! For Halloween Carsen and a Jedi, from Star Wars, and Gabi was a Fairy.. we made the rounds on Halloween and still have the candy to prove it!! (carsen is not a big candy person...)
Also during October.. it was BEARD month.. i guess..? i think chas and his friends make it up as an excuse to not shave.. I really dont mind it except for the Mustache.. anywyas here is a slide show for now.. and i promise I will try and do better this month with the updates!

so.. alots new but here is a start

GABI GOT BLESSED... SEPT 13th, 2008...

It was great.. we blessed her on a Saturday and had family and friends come, it was great! My friend Kathryn sang at her blessing on of my favorite songs, and it was absolutely amazing.. (thanks kathryn) Chas said a few words, along with my dad and it was just great! I was so over whelmed with it all, and i lost it!! It seemed at the moment everything came to a head, and I realized how great my life is. Sitting in the church after hearing an amazing song, and an amazing blessing, and just sitting back and looking around at all that i have, meaning my children and family, i realized this is what really matters, and I was so grateful. Sitting there knowing that i truely believe this is all that matters.. my job, my house, the dream car i want.. the money i don't have but want, truly didn't matter. It was striving for peace that mattered and I had finally realized my family gave me that, and my children are the best gifts i could ever receive from god! My dad said something at the blessing that it feels like Heaven with his grandkids come over, I agree! Children are the closest to god, and it shows..

At this moment i realized...

We finally had our baby, we had tried for so long for our second child and we went through ALOT, and it seemed at one point it was never going to happen and the day I found out i was pregnant i remember i sat in my closet and cried for like 20 min!! I was so relieved and scared at the same time! It was a long pregnancy but i think because of everything we went through it made it all that much more special!! I love my kids and thank god every day for them! This blessing really made me think alot, and it really put into perspective that even though at times life is really hard and it is that much more gratifying when life blesses you. I read once in a talk a saying that says, in losing your self you find your self.... to me that means, even though you can get over whelmed with everything like life is at times, it is in those moments you find your self, that life is so worth it!!

I sit in aw when I think of what life has brought me especially my kids!

this picture was taken from my phone, so its not the best but Gabi finds her thumb so well now, its cute... but i am still not sure what i think, I am worried that a thumb will be hard to stop when she is older compared to a binki, but its also nice now because instead of me having to find her binki at night and pop it in she just sticks her thumb in her mouth...

update....on life

Ok so lets see....

1st: We got Gabi's Ears pierced!

Its was so horrible but the turned out great! I felt so bad afterwards!! She cried for quite sometime, and I was really worried about what the night would bring but surprisingly she did great, it was the longestest she ever slept!! anyways They look great!

2nd:Carsen turned FIVE

I can not believe I have a 5 year old! He has been so wonderful!! He is the best little helper ever!! And is so adorable with his sister! He is constantly telling me how cute she think she is and I think its so tender! He has been a blessing from day one.... an unplanned blessing but worth it for sure!! :) I love his enthusiasm for life, his creative personality, and his tender heart! He is my protector and his sister and its so cute! We had a Dino party, and his friends came over and we ate cake, played games, did a pinata (because we are Spanish) and opened presents!

3rd: Carsen started preschool;

We decided to hold him back a year so he was not the youngest one in the class... although he is already HUGE for his size we thought it was best to have him start kindergarten next year!! He love preschool so far... part of the curriculum is they teach the kids Spanish, Carsen hates Spanish... Funny story;

When he watches Diego, he always comments, "ugh I hate it when the speak the stupid Spanish!"I don't know where he got it from?? anyways one day Chas told carsen that I was Spanish and that I spoke Spanish and I swear Carsen about died! Right when he saw me he said, "mom are you Spanish!!" (he was really upset!) and I told him yes and all he did was go... UGH! and then asked me WHY? Its so funny! I told him he was too and he was like WHAT! So due to this weird thing he has about spanish I was a little nervous to hear the school was going to teach spanish... so I made sure to warn his teacher, but Carsen had really liked it and occasionally asks what certain words mean in spanish... so we will see!
